City Of Milton’s First 4th of July “Citizen” Parade - Georgia
June 21st, 2008 categories: Alpharetta, Milton, Month to Month In Town

The City of Milton, in the state of Georgia, is holding its first “Citizen Parade” for the July 4th holiday. Any Milton resident looking to show off city pride on Independence Day can head down to Milton City Hall for a little fun and camraderie.
The plans are still being finalized, but the basic idea is to let anyone who has ever wanted to be in a parade to simply join in on the march, fun and festivities. That means kids, parents, singles, couples and even pets. All you need is the desire to march and have city pride. You don’t even need a prop, just show up says Linda Blow, volunteer coordinator for the city and parade planner.
The parade route will begin at the corner of Deerfield and Webb at 10 A.M.,
July 4th
and will proceed along Deerfield Parkway.Plans are also in the works for face painting,
patriotic activities and other fun and games. See you there!

Where Will The April Dogwood Festival Be Held? ? ?
February 2nd, 2008 categories: Local Art & Designers, Month to Month In Town
Those are among the leading contenders for the April 4-6 arts festival, organizers will announce shortly. A third option is an undisclosed area of Midtown, possibly for a street fair-type event, festival Executive Director Brian Hill said in a statement e-mailed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution late Monday. The city and the Piedmont Park Conservancy announced Jan. 11 that the Dogwood and three other major festivals were being moved out of Piedmont Park because of Georgia’s drought.
Dogwood Festival officials considered a number of in-town alternates, but nearly all were unavailable because of scheduling conflicts. “We are down to one more Midtown site option before we are out of time,” he said in the statement. “If we can’t get a site agreement this week, we will turn to either Lenox [Square] mall or Stone Mountain as festival venue options. “Hill would not say exactly when officials would announce a final decision.
