UPDATE!! Board of Education Abandons Freemanville High School Site!!
September 20th, 2008 categories: Milton, New Construction, Schools/Parents/Children
The Board of Education announced they have moved its plans for a High School off Freemanville Road in Milton. It seems the two factors that led to the announcement is the community complaints from deep pocketed neighbors along with a preferred parcel that became available.
The school system has now purchased the 64 acre parcel of land at the southeast corner of Bethany Bend and Cogburn Road, from local developer David Chatham, where it will build the new high school.
The preferred parcel, also in Milton, was originally slated for housing, but due to the continued weak demand for new construction, David Chatham went back to the school board and offered it for sale.

The original 117 acre parcel on Freemanville Road will still hold the middle school, with any unneeded acreage to be eventually sold off for other development.
The new Milton High School will sit directly across from Kings Ridge Christian School and has easy access to Highway 9 and the Georgia 400.

Milton High School 9.11 Flag Dedication In GA
September 11th, 2008 categories: Milton, Schools/Parents/Children
Milton High School, located off Birmingham Highway and Freemanville Road, had a front yard landscape full of flags today to honor the 2,977 victims of 9.11 this day, 7 years ago. As we all remember the victims on this day, a Milton High School teenager is making sure we never forget.
On this day, 7 years ago, Michael Smith was in the 4th grade. Michael is now a Junior at Milton High School and is the organizer of this event that he plans on continuing every year as a tradition.
It seems last year he organized this event and borrowed all the flags, but this year, from money raised in various ways, was able to buy the flags to insure this annual tradition in Milton GA. If this is any example of our future youth, I say hurray to the younger generation!

Atlanta Area Housing Market “Vibrant”
May 6th, 2008 categories: Alpharetta, Ball Ground, Buford, Canton, Cherokee County, Forsyth County, Fulton County, Gwinnett County, Holly Springs, Johns Creek, Milton, Real Estate Forum, Roswell, Sandy Springs
Former federal Housing Secretary Henry Cisneros says metro Atlanta’s housing
market is being spared the worst of the national slump due to the region’s
comparatively vibrant economy.
“Metro Atlanta arguably has the most dynamic economic market in the country,” Cisneros said last week while in the Atlanta area.
Cisneros predicted metro Atlanta’s home prices and its overall housing industry will rebound sooner than other regions in the country. The local market continues to be reinforced by the influx of talented people seeking opportunities, he said. Factors contributing to local economic strength include hospitals and health care facilities, universities and the many fortune 500 companies Visit Site For List Of Companys who make Atlanta their home address.
Henry Cisneros was secretary of the Housing and Urban Development department from 1993 to 1996. For more info on Henry Cisneros visit About Henry Cisneros.

Milton Getting New Middle School
April 1st, 2008 categories: Milton, Schools/Parents/Children
Just west of Alpharetta, Georgia, the new City of Milton will be adding a middle school to the property already slated for a high school on Freemanville Road. A shifting of the construction schedule has placed the new middle school on the calender for the year 2013. For more on North Fulton Schools.
The school system purchased the 120 acre tract for the high school last year with the long range option to put a middle school on the site once the need was determined. Due to the growth of West Alpharetta and the City of Milton, that need is now! Originally, the high school was planned to open for the 2011 school year, but due to the addition of the middle school on the plan, the school system pushed back the opening of the school to the 2012 school year.
Neighbors of the Area had originally opposed the sale of the land to Kings Ridge Christian School, hoping for a better development of the parcel. Kings Ridge Christian School found another property at Hopewell and Bethany, and the end result for Kings Ridge is a magnificent place of education. Kings Ridge Christian School serves approximately 600 students, teaching all grade levels.
